Khan Returns: Star Trek’s New Scripted Podcast Launches This September

KHAAAAAAN! A New Era for Star Trek’s Most Iconic Villain Begins This September

Girafe and I are still recovering from a crazy week at San Diego Comic Con, but as the lights dimmed and the Star Trek theme played,   one unexpected update caught us a bit by surprise as Alex Kurtzman announced we'd be seeing the trailer for STAR TREK: KHAN, the upcoming podcast series. We had blogged about the casting a few months ago, but seeing (and hearing) it come to life in historic Hall H was something else entirely.

September 8th, 2025, Star Trek Day, marks the launch of STAR TREK: KHAN, the brand-new narrative podcast that digs into one of Trek’s most infamous chapters: the lost years of Khan Noonien Singh on Ceti Alpha V. What really happened between "Space Seed" and Wrath of Khan? How did a genetically engineered idealist become the vengeance-driven tyrant we meet in what is arguably Trek's most popular film?

Naveen Andrews is Khan

That’s right. The Lost star brings a fresh intensity to the role, joined by an all-star cast that includes:

  • Wrenn Schmidt (For All Mankind) as Lieutenant Marla McGivers

  • Sonya Cassidy (Reacher) as Dr. Rosalind Lear

  • Tim Russ returning as Ensign Tuvok (!!)

  • And the legendary George Takei as Captain Hikaru Sulu

The supporting cast features some serious talent as well: Olli Haaskivi, Maury Sterling, Mercy Malick, and Zuri Washington all bring new characters into the fold.

Nicholas Meyer, the architect of Wrath of Khan itself, provided the story. Writers Kirsten Beyer and David Mack (names that should need no intro if you’ve touched a Trek novel or episode in the last two decades) are behind the scripts. And yes, Secret Hideout, Roddenberry Entertainment, and Realm are all backing the production, so it’s the real deal.

Weekly episodes drop Mondays through November 3rd, wherever you get your podcasts.

Here’s the trailer that dropped in Hall H, we were lucky enough to see it first, now it’s your turn:

Whether you're a die-hard Original Series fan, a Wrath of Khan loyalist, or just want to hear Tuvok again in your ears, this one's shaping up to be a must-listen. Khan is back, and this time, we’ll hear every brutal, beautiful, bitter step of the journey.

Stay tuned. We'll be breaking down each episode as it airs this fall.

Live long, and listen close.
