'Star Trek Prodigy' Saved by Netflix, Second Season to Premiere in 2024

The Adventures of Dal, Gwyn, Rok, Jankom, Murf, and Zero will continue in 2024!

It was a long time coming, but Netflix and the Hageman Brothers finally shared the news today that Star Trek Prodigy has been saved! Picked up by the streaming giant, Prodigy season one will debut on the platform later this year, with the series highly anticipated second season premiering in 2024. In a co-statement by Executive Producer Alex Kurtzman and showrunners Dan & Kevin Hageman, the message was clear: Thank you, fans.

"Thank you to our incredible Star Trek: Prodigy fans, who championed not just a show, but a community that's always been connnected by the belief that we build a better future together. We set out to inspire you, but you inspired us. The team is still hard at work on the second season, and we can't wait to share it with the amazing fans around the world."

Tweets also poured in from folks like Bonnie Gordon (the voice of the Protostar) and Executive Producer Aaron Waltke.

Star Trek: Prodigy originally aired on Paramount Plus from October 2021 to February 2022, with the series' second season set to premiere later this year. Unfortunately, Paramount Plus pulled the plug, canceling the series and removing it from the streaming service. A campaign led by the fans immediately started up, with a change.org petition reaching almost 34,000 signatures.

Developed by Emmy® Award-winners Kevin and Dan Hageman (Trollhunters and Ninjago), the CG-animated series Star Trek: Prodigy is the first Star Trek series aimed at younger audiences and follows a motley crew of young aliens who must figure out how to work together while navigating a greater galaxy, in search for a better future.
